Former high-level legislator from Shanxi Province arrested on suspicion of taking bribes

Beijing, July 12 / Xinhua / - Zhang Maotsai, a former high-level legislator from Shanxi Province / Northern China /, was arrested on suspicion of taking bribes, the People’s Prosecutor’s Office of the People’s Republic of China said on Friday.

Zhang Maotsai held the position of Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Shanxi Provincial Assembly of People’s Representatives / SNP /.

The CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the State Supervisory Committee of the People`s Republic of China reported in March that an investigation was underway with respect to Zhang Maotsaya. On June 20, he was expelled from the CCP for numerous violations.

The State Supervisory Committee completed the investigation of his case and referred the case to the prosecutor’s office, the report says.
